Musician's Union

The musician's Union (MU) is a musical organisation that represents over thirty thousand people in the UK, protects the rights of musicians and are looking towards creating a fairer music industry. If you are wishing to join the MU, you should go to the MU website, go to their join page and pay £227, to have full membership.

PPL

The PPL is an organisation which deals with UK and international music licences, making sure people are able to play or broadcast their music. This is free to join, you can do so by going onto the PPL website.

PRS

The Performing Rights Society (PRS) is an organisation that pays their members royalties if; their music is played on the TV or radio, their music is streamed or downloaded, or their music is performed or played in public. This organisation costs £100 to join. If you wish to join, go to the PRS website and go onto their join page.

Creative Scotland

Creative Scotland is an organisation which awards funding to musical and other artistic projects based in Scotland, in order to create a goal (e.g a concert, or an album). This is done through an application process, which is highly competitive. Creative Scotland are able to do this as their funding comes through the Scottish government. Sound City

Sound city is a networking  festival event, which takes place in Liverpool. The event aims to encourage and enable young, unknown artists to perform at a high level. You are able to apply for their training programme in either Liverpool or Manchester by completing an application. Widedays

Widedays is a Scottish networking event that bring professional musicians together to discuss many topics, including the best ways to run a music business. They also encourage and develop talent by choosing young, unknown musicians to play at their events. If you would like to go to this event, go to the tickets section of the Widedays website.
